The key to providing high performance and agile K-9 teams starts with the initial selection of the K-9. We have more than 30 years of experience selecting and matching K-9 to Scope of Work (SOW) requirements.
RWBK9 has close working relationships with a select number of well-respected dog vendors who consistently deliver quality K-9s. Our K-9 vendors offer health guarantees for a minimum of two years and a workability guarantee for one year. Vendors must also implant subcutaneous 15 digit ISO-compatible microchips in K-9s for positive identification and tracking purposes. Prior to acceptance, we prescreen K9s between the ages of 12-months to 36-months for the following qualities: overall good health, sociability, athleticism, proper demeanor, and trainability. Our K-9s are play-reward, high-drive breeds.
K-9 Selection
RWBK9 recruits handlers with a minimum of two years experience as a detection dog handler, military or training as a first responder, and third-party training certification (e.g., prior military training, law enforcement sponsored courses). Then, we validate the prospective handler against the scope of work to ensure they meet requirements
